Jukseoru, whose name means "bamboo west pavilion," is the most important historical site in the city. Originally constructed in 1275, it served as an entertainment center for scholars and royalty during the Goryeo Dynasty. The pavilion was rebuilt in 1403, and that structure still stands today. Sitting on the edge of a cliff overlooking the stream, Oship-cheon, you get a fantastic view of the sunset. There is a small bamboo forest, a garden, and a tiny folk museum with artifacts (mostly pottery) from the area.
